’23 TWENTY HALL OF FAME, DAY 11 INDUCTEE:
BRET BOONE
Bret Robert Boone (born April 6, 1969) is a former Major League Baseball second baseman. During his career Boone was a three-time All-Star, four-time Gold Glove winner, and two-time Silver Slugger Award winner. He is a third generation professional athlete. His brother is Aaron Boone, manager of the New York Yankees.
Mel Allen on ‘This Week in Baseball’:
“Bob Boone once played in the game and this year his son Bret has carried on the tradition.”
(Bret:) “It’s kinda neat actually… and you feel, it’s gonna be twelve o’clock and you feel as if, you know, it’s time to go to bed, but actually, you know, it’s bright out, and you go to the beach. They don’t have a beach here, but .. So, I think it’s really something different and unique.”
“I asked him how in the hell he hit that pitch,” Eddie Guardado said. “And he said, ‘Sometimes Boone hits those pitches.'”
